Family

One of the most important things in this world is family and the relationship of the family.  A strong foundation in the Word of God makes a strong family. Communication and love helps solidify the family.

One of the most important things in that relationship is communication.  The Lord reminds us that we need to renew our mind and that we do that through his word and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, and comforter. He reveals to us the will of God, and those things most important to our relationship with the Father. He hears our prayers and we must take the time to listen for his answer, and to keep the word center in our hearts.

We tend to pull against authority and push the boundaries of the word, and authority of the Lord.  We Explore the length, depth and breadth of those boundaries.

The strength of our faith is based on how far we are willing to trust the Lord. Are we willing, or even able in our mind and heart, to give everything in our lives to the Lord?  Not always.

Sometimes when we try to talk to people within the church about our problems, we have a real fear of their turning away from us and looking at us as though we are totally evil.  They don’t understand what we have been through because most of them have never lived that far outside their comfort zone.  It makes it hard to discuss the things that are bothering you with them, because they really have no idea of what you are experiencing.

Then there are those who think that you are manipulating the facts.  It is hard to know what they are talking about when you have no clue and they have been talking to other people about you beforehand.  Most of us will then walk away from that situation because no matter what you say they have already made up their mind.  This tends to drive some people away from the church.  They feel that they have been judged and they had no input on the circumstances or what is going on.

Many people have had bad experiences with churches, especially those who have come out of prison or the criminal justice system.  Most churches make rules that remind you so much about prison or your criminal justice past that you tend to leave the church because you feel like an outsider and will never be accepted.  They require that you wait in the parking lot until someone comes and takes you to a specially marked off area. Then they require that you sit there, if you need the restroom you must be escorted to and from your seat and the usher will wait with you until you are finished. Then after the service you are escorted to your car and they wait in the lot until you leave.  Then there are other churches that won’t let you attend their church and will tell you that they are not accepting new members. This is not of the Lord and not acceptable to him.

Matthew 19:13-15 (NKJV) 13 Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.

Matthew 18:3 (NKJV)
3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

This seems to be misunderstood, and needs to be re-read and thought about very carefully. It is true that we are all the children of the Lord is it not? Then why do many of us throw road blocks in their way? We try to make them to be evil and unworthy of being saved. Yet the Lord Himself declared salvation for all.

The Importance of Humility (Matthew 18:1-6

Christ spoke many words of his sufferings, but only one of his glory; yet the disciples fasten upon that, and overlook the others. Many love to hear and speak of privileges and glory, who are willing to pass by the thoughts of work and trouble. Our Lord set a little child before them, solemnly assuring them, that unless they were converted and made like little children, they could not enter his kingdom. Children, when very young, do not desire authority, do not regard outward distinctions, are free from malice, are teachable, and willingly dependent on their parents. It is true that they soon begin to show other dispositions, and other ideas are taught them at an early age; but these are marks of childhood, and render them proper emblems of the lowly minds of true Christians. Surely we need to be daily renewed in the spirit of our minds, that we may become simple and humble, as little children, and willing to be the least of all. Let us daily study this subject, and examine our own spirits.     Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

John 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The church is a family of people who have come together to worship and serve the Lord. They are from all areas of life, good and bad.  There are some hypocrites and pious ones. Yet like in any family we pray for them all, knowing that our Father will take them through the changes.  Not just them, every member of the family will go through a transition. Each individual according to the level of relationship they have with the Lord himself. Even the hypocrites will go through a transition.  No matter what you think, once you hear the word of God, your life is forever changed.  You can’t return to the old life; you can only go back to something far worse.  If you embrace the change and accept your salvation you have something far greater than you ever had before.

We always fight against change because with change comes new challenges and new problems and we are afraid to move from our comfort zone and sometimes we just don’t want to give up all those fleshly pleasures we become accustomed to. Yet when we finally hit rock bottom we realize that change is necessary for our life and continued existence.

I know that we will always balk at radical change in our lives, yet we will change.

Important to Remember, you have not lost control of your life, The Lord gives you the Choice, to accept salvation or not.  It will always be your choice; he won’t force you to accept.  He will never force you or change your choice.  You have, by choosing to accept the Lord as your Savior, taken full control of your life for the first time.

I have found a church who helps you in your relationship with the Lord. Their purpose is to Extend, Equip, Empower, and provide Experience in ministry. They are more interested in our future and not the past.  They have the heart and mind of Christ and his agape love.  There are other churches like them and they are growing. They are growing because they truly serve the Lord and love him with all their heart.

It is important for us to find a good church home, a place that will help you to grow in the Lord and become the child that he created you to be.  Find a church home that teaches the Word of God, and Equips people to understand who they are in Jesus Christ, empowers people to serve others, Extends the love of God to people and helps them Experience the synergy of team ministry.

The Family of God is a team, and we are designed to work together, as both a team and a family. It is time that we begin to learn what it is to be God’s Children, his family here on earth.
